the latest

10:45 AM

so what has been going on here in miyako? well.. let`s see. school has been going well generally speaking, i am feeling happier and more comfortable in the classroom. i am now beginning to enjoy tweaking ideas and lessons to make for positive learning experiences in all of my classes. i am also getting to know my teachers better which has been nice, and feel more like a contributing team member.

next month i am setting off to okinawa mainland for our mid-year conference, and then for the week-end to TOKYO, for which i am totally pumped. i will be flying over with janine and stuart, and meeting up with some montrealers!

so there you have an update. i miss everyone and look forward to hearing news.

xo julia

today`s invitation

2:56 PM

Hi Julia!

tonight starts the crazy, hilarious Paantu festival.

tonight, the running shoe clad spirit of good fortune arises from his muddy pond. for three nights he will bless babies, and bestow good luck upon onlookers who flee gleefully from his slime only to be overtaken by his amazing speed and slathered with his lucky mud.

it is not a night for the faint of heart, but i feel confident that we gaijin, using the safety of numbers, can observe this most unique of all lunar phenomenon and get some really good photos to add to the visual evidence that suggests...

Miayko is a quirky place.

hope you can make it!

let's meet at A&W at 6 and caravan over all together. hopefully we can all fit in one car so that we can jabber and sing nonsense songs in transit.

kim
