who knew that NOT making your bed was actually a good thing? turns out that dust mites just love you to pull the covers over them after you wake up, making a toasty little nest for them to grow and play.
by simply folding down your sheets/comforter/blankets to the end of the bed when you wake up, the bugs are exposed to the cooler air and will scurry, or at least reproduce at a slower rate. there are many sources, here's one.

but i am alive and well and kicking. how are you?
as the weather gets warmer here in miyako everyone seems to be coming out of their shell. including lots of bugs and little creatures that we had a break from over the winter season.
it's been just about 8 months, and it is starting to feel like a long time. in less than 2 weeks i will be setting out for a 2-week adventure to visit my mate Jackie in vietnam! very excited to get out of the japanese bubble and do some exploration.
since this job can be at times somewhat flavourless i have been looking into some online degree programs. any suggestions would of course be welcome! my current choice is in holistic health, but i am open to most things, bar hard-core business.
i now have my little mac all hooked up at school too which is rocking. and recently was given a tv and dvd player- so have been digitized to some degree lately. my main focus of the moment though is diet-related, for health reasons. have you heard of the macrobiotic diet? its basically japanese-vegan, and I am adapting it to fit my own nutritional, and sometimes compulsive, needs.
